To all dog owners

Following many complaints that reach us, we remind the owners companion dogs, when they take their animals for a walk, to always carry with them bags to collect their excreta.

They are also asked not to let their animals roam free, as a result of which they wander uncontrollably in public and shared spaces (roads, pedestrian paths, cycle paths), causing pollution and nuisance but also a public danger for citizens and especially small children.

The green spaces of the old "Quarry" located behind the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Famagusta and on Demokritou Street, have been designated as dog walking areas, while special baskets with bags have been placed to collect the excrement in various municipality places.

All dog owners, according to the "Dog Law", must obtain a permit to own their dog from the Municipality by paying the relevant fees defined by the Law, which is €20.50, after presenting the following to the Municipality:

1. Health certificate or booklet issued by a registered Veterinarian
2. Certificate of registration and permanent marking (microchip) from the Director of Veterinary Services
